Overview

No one is perfect at picking stocks, but some are better than others. Verdict Green gives you the chance to measure up your friends, your classmates, your coworkers, and strangers. This simple game matches your weekly portfolio performance against your opponent in a head to head matchup. Winner gets bragging rights.

Competition

Verdict Green is like fantasy football. All the same great fun of competing in weekly head to head matchups and hoping to make the playoffs and show everyone you are the best. But instead of football players, the game is based on a set of stocks you pick. Anyone can play and leagues can start at any time and run for any length.

Game Detail

The game has participants (called "shareholders") who are arranged into a investment league. The person who creates the league is called the commissioner, and that person invites other shareholders into his/her league. Each team researches different stocks prior to a selection declaration. The stocks are broken up by market capitalization - Large, Mid, and Small. Teams compete in a head-to-head format in which each team plays against a single opponent each week. At the end of the year, win-loss records determine league rankings or qualification into a playoff bracket.

Education

Verdict Green is an educational site that uses competition as the motivator to learn the fundamentals of stocks.

Fundamentals: Verdict Green puts the focus on an individual stock.

  • P/E ratio
  • Product(s)
  • Debt
  • Economy
  • Business Cycle
  • Leadership
  • And more

Strategies

Verdict Green requires each shareholder to devise very particular strategies when the stock research process is underway. For instance, the shareholder can select very volatile stocks across the board, very stable stocks, or a mixture according to the type of stock. A first-rate shareholder assesses the market environment, industry cycles, the different mixtures of product offerings, and many other fundamentals to include in their strategy. And then they have to consider their opponents.

Different from other sites:

  • Verdict Green doesn't use a fictional sum of say $100,000 to invest in some form of a portfolio.
  • Verdict Green keeps everyone's attention throughout the season because of the head to head matchups.
  • No shareholder can get "lucky" and manipulate the game over the course of the competition.
  • Works in both a positive and a negative markets.
